Onwards and Upwards! Friday, July 9, 2004 Seven NAWBL players will be leaving the league for a month to compete on the first USA Baseball sanctioned women’s national team. They will be playing in Japan in the Women’s World Series and competing in Canada in the first ever Women’s World Cup of Baseball. For more information on the women’s national team check out www.usabaseball.com . As several league teams will be losing players to the national team, the NAWBL is looking for players to fill out the rosters. Anyone interested should attend one of the scheduled practices or games for a tryout. The 2004 NAWBL season is in full swing. The Outlaws have pulled ahead with a 6-1 record. But, as we saw last season, with 8 league games remaining, anything can happen. Last season, the Falcons (now Outlaws) started out the season 0-7 and, against all odds, became the defending league champions. The 2-5 Seahawks are looking for a similar miracle, while the Saints and Ravens are battling for 2nd place. The next practice will be Sunday, July 18 at 6pm at Fraser Field. Any interested players should attend. |
